My Video Game Collection

Below is a list of all the games in my video game collection. You can also view my video game collection at VGCollect. My collection isn't really all that big, nor does it contain a bunch of rare or valuable games. But it does include some of the earliest games I've had since my brother and I got a Sega Master System for Christmas in 1987. A lot of these games and consoles have a nostalgic value for me, and I've loved playing video games since I first played the Atari 2600 as a child.

As you can see below, I own a number of consoles, though I aim to collect mainly for the Sega Master System and the Sega Genesis, since these were the first consoles that my brother and I received as gifts from our parents as children. My favorite genre is role playing games, and it is my goal to collect every role playing game released on the Sega Master System and Sega Genesis (I'm nowhere close yet). But I'll buy any game for any system if the price is right. I enjoy going to flea markets looking for bargain video games. I try to stay away from collecting for the Nintendo Entertainment System, since there are so many games, some of them are expensive, and it's too easy to get sucked in to collecting for that system based on nostalgia alone.

Over the first weekend of June, I took a trip with some friends to Champaign, Illinois, where I visited the retro video game store Live Action Games. I picked up four games: I happen to think that Phantasy Star IV is one of the best games on the Genesis (definitely one of the best RPGs). I also had F-16 Fighting Falcon and the Dungeons and Dragons game as a kid. F-16 Fighting Falcon I bought purely for nostalgia--it's not a good game. But Warriors of the Eternal Sun I loved as a kid and played it a lot.

And just today I picked up Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, both for PlayStation 4. I've heard good things.
